Vinification / Maturation:
This wine was matured for 18 months in a combination of new French and American Oak 300 litre barrels and is made in a typical Rhone style.

This wine:
Appearance: Dark, intense

Aroma: Rich, classic red fruit aromas, most notably plum and mulberries, are immediately prevalent on the nose, and supported by subtle floral aromas emerging from the small amount of Viognier added to the wine.

Palate: This initial orange peel impression from the Viognier is overpowered by attractive red fruit flavours on the mid palate. The wine shows ripe, oaky tannins and a well structured finish.

Impression: I believe we succeeded in capturing the essence of a France (Rhone) and South Africa (Stellenbosch) in this wine.” – Jean Engelbrecht.

This wine was matured for 18 months in a combination of new French and American Oak 300 litre barrels and is made in a typical Rhone style.

This wine:
Appearance: Bright, ruby red

Bouquet: Hints of dark, ripe plum with jasmine and powerful floral aromas make the initial impression. A subdued spicy component is supported by vanilla undertones which is consistent with a well-balanced toasty bouquet from the oak.

Palate: The medium palate weight combined with rich, ripe tannins allow for an elegant, yet not overly powerful, wine. Soft tannins compliment the wonderful, polished, full mouth-feel which is consistent with dried prune flavours. The long, slightly dry finish is pleasing.

Bouquet: Floral aromas with jasmine and hints of pineapple make the initial impression. A mild spiciness and undertones of vanilla and cedar emerge as the wine opens up. The aroma component is consistent with that of darker fruits.

Pleasing vanilla spice notes and blackcurrant fruit on the mid-palate. This wine shows a superb balance between depth and elegance.

This wine was matured for 18 months in a combination of new French and American 300 l barrels.

This wine:
Appearance: Inky black

Bouquet: Savoury aromas reminiscent of the Rhone Region make the initial impression. Cinnamon spice and violets emerge as the wine opens up.  The fruit component is made up of dark fruit aromas.  Hint of perfume.

Palate: The structure of the wine on the palate is the outstanding component. A delightful thickness in the mouth, well-defined velvety tannins, leading into a lingering finish. Pleasing vanilla spice notes and blackcurrant fruit on the mid-palate.
